I have some exciting news, after cleaning for three straight days from sun up to sun down (I may be exaggerating a tad) the house is cleaned, and Linny will be here TODAY! I may be cutting it a little too close for comfort, but after MUCH procrastinating, the work did get done.
If my husband could give me a drum roll please (or make me a cinnamon roll)...presenting... a clean kitchen!
I managed to throw in a minute or two, or three, of some frugal decorating. I took an empty vase that I had sitting around the house and filled it with pasta and beans, topped it off with a candle, coupled it with a mustard jar that I filled with rice, macaroni and a tea light, displayed it on a hot pad...and presto...frugal decorating diva ~ turning trash into treasure.
I took an empty basket that I used for storing winter hats and gloves, and transformed it into a kitchen cookbook treasury.
I was able to fit in a little baking for the family visitors...brownies, chocolate chip cookie bars, blueberry muffins and banana chocolate chip muffins.
The dining room is ready for dining in, instead of the laptops/speakers/headphones zone that Clint and Aaron had turned it into.
Clean living in the living room. I still haven't found a nice big picture to hang on the wall yet.
I spent an evening working on a welcome banner for Linny. She loves princesses, Belle is her favorite. I put different princess stickers on each letter of the banner and laminated it.
It's going to be a lot of fun to hang out with this cutie pie grandson all week!
The kids' bathroom is cleaned and spruced up for our guests.
Alex gets to sleep in his own bed in Uncle Aaron's room.
Our bedroom is looking spiffy.
I had time to do a little frugal bedroom decorating too. I took a wine glass that I love to use for layering Cool Whip/pudding desserts, turned it upside down to use as a candle holder, added red beads and a bow...frugal decorating diva strikes again.
I turned the summer fun zone (extra room above the garage) into a bedroom for Linny.
Clint also did a lot of yard work in the squelching heat of summer over the weekend.
This morning I assembled our supper for the tired visitors, after their long day of traveling. On the menu, a penne pasta bake with garlic bread and salad.
It is amazing what I can get accomplished if I just get BUSY and do it! :)
