I was a little nervous about it too. This is my baby after all, and I wasn't going to be allowed to go back with him to see him through his first IV (intravenous) and then he would be sent into an unconscious state... I think I'm the one who needed to be knocked out!
Although I couldn't be with Aaron during the surgery procedure, I knew the Lord would be with him. On the drive to the oral surgeon's office I reminded him of that truth. While we were sitting in the waiting room, waiting for Aaron to get called back for surgery, a movie that was playing on TV caught our attention. In the movie, the pastor was reminding people that God was with Moses and Aaron when they went down to Egypt... and then he looked into the camera and said God will be with you. ~ A visible, audible sign to Aaron of God's presence with him. That movie played on every TV, in every room of that facility, and it was a constant reminder to him while he was waiting to be prepped for surgery, that God was with him. After the surgery, after Aaron regained consciousness, the message of that movie... God will be with you, was the first thing he talked about. God was indeed with him through it all.
What was little Miss Sydney (and I) doing during the two hour surgery? She was totally roughing it in the backseat of the car. I mean it was just dreadful for her...what with all the snacks she was eating and the movies she was watching...the games she was playing on her Kindle. How is a girl to survive something like this?!! Good grief, I even rigged up a shade to keep the sun out of her eyes. :)
Once I got Aaron back home, situated and medicated, I wrapped him up in a swankie blankie, gave him some ice cream and babied him up all day. :)
He is recovering well...only eighteen teeth left...implants will be in his future... and the work continues...
