Ice Cream Day became an official food holiday in 1984 when President Ronald Reagan declared the third Sunday of July as National Ice Cream Day and the month of July as National Ice Cream Month.
It was divine! Below is a link to the original recipe and the video demonstration. We tweaked it a bit by omitting the lemon. Instead we infused three cinnamon sticks and a vanilla bean to one cup of whole milk, and let it steep for an hour. We also added 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon to the custard and cream mixture. All of the other ingredients remained the same.
“I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream.”
