The Easy Peasy All in One Homeschool Way for Aaron

Easy Peasy went something like this for Aaron at the Eighth Grade level:

Bible Topics were the same for him as they were for Sydney. I posted them in my last blog.

Math – Pre-algebra

  • Order of operations
    Decimal place value
    Equivalent decimals
    Adding, multiplying & diving decimals

Science – Zoology Level M

  • Intro/animal classification videos/meaning of zoology
    Mammal classification printable activity
    Invertebrate classification printable activity
    Vertebrate movie/quiz/animal classification reading worksheet

Computer Skills: Reviewed the following terms: browser, desktop, window, crash, loading, refresh, download, internet safety, kid friendly search engines, ad blockers, etc.

P.E. – Stretching Exercises

History – Early American History Level M

  • Reading Discoverers & Explorers
Writing assignment – what did people believe 400 years ago
    Reading chapters on Christopher Columbus
View Columbus’s route on the map
    Read about John Cabot
View Cabot’s route on the map
Research Jacques Cartier, write about him.

Thinking Skills: Aaron chose to play a game of checkers to try to beat his opponent.

Reading: Grammar Land – a fun book to read about the parts of speech with some crazy characters in it.

Writing: Grammar Land notebooking pages

Grammar: subjects/predicates, clauses/types of sentences, subjects/verbs/clauses, phrases/prepositions

Art: He also worked on a complementary colors project, primary and secondary colors.

Vocabulary - learned meaning of 20 new words, note taking, spelling edits

Not bad for a four day week. Aaron, of course, worked on many side projects that you could easily say were "educational" in nature. He is also reading two biographies on Walt Disney.

That's the Easy Peasy week!

Taking it Easy Peasy All-in-One Homeschool this week!

Since it was Spring break week, we took a break from our regular studies to give Easy Peasy All-in-One Homeschool a try. This program has been all the "buzz" in many homeschool groups lately and I wanted to see if it would live up to it's claim of being "a complete, free online Christian homeschool". I wasn't disappointed.

This is what an Easy Peasy week looks like.

All the work that goes into "planning" a school year is done for you. Printing off the lesson plans for each child, the course objectives, grading sheets, reading lists and basic supplies list, is a click away. It doesn't get any easier than that.

After printing off the lesson plans for the week, I took some time to read over the assignments and print off any worksheets that were needed for the week. All other resources were provided within the online curriculum. If there was a book to read, the link was provided to that book to read online. I was also able to download the books onto my Kindle for free and that enabled me to read over the books ahead of time to get a feel for whether the book would be a good fit for each child. If there was a video to watch, a game to play, a book or poem to read, a quiz to take, you name it, there was a link for it on that specific day. Easy Peasy!

I only made two minor tweaks to the program for the first week. I decided to change the book Sydney was going to read about Columbus to a newer version that I thought she would like better, a Landmark book on the life of Columbus that I downloaded from our library. I also chose a different poem for her to read on one of the days, just because I thought she would understand it better. That was it.

Sydney's Third Grade Courses for the week:
(Aaron and Sydney studied Bible, Early American History, Zoology, Music and Art together, with materials suited for their individual ages.)

Bible: Mark chapters 1 - 5, comprehension & application questions

Poetry by William Blake – “stanzas”, “rhyme”,” rhythm”, “alliteration”

Art: Worked on complementary colors project.

Music: Reviewed Woodwind instruments.

And that was Easy Peasy in a nutshell for a third grader. I was pleasantly surprised on just how much information was covered over the course of a week with this program. Did I mention that we took Wednesday off of school? So the workload was based on a four day week. It is an easy program to implement and manage day to day. It is what it claims to be "a complete, free online Christian homeschool for your family and mine."

Next post to follow, Easy Peasy at the Eighth Grade Level.
