I can understand Syd's enthusiasm for it though because doing a cartwheel wasn't something she was able to do a few months ago, and it was a major source of frustration for her. I couldn't help her myself because I didn't know how to do a cartwheel either. I did show her a few videos of how others do cartwheels, but I didn't have the skills to actually walk her through the process. I am a person who likes her feet firmly planted on the ground, a non thrill seeker, a play it safer, and I wasn't about to try a cartwheel and end up planting my face into the ground. But what I did do was encourage Syd to pray and ask the Lord for help (believing He would help her), encourage her to keep practicing everyday and NOT to give up. That's what she did and sure enough within a few weeks, she was doing cartwheels! :)
Someone is obsessed with doing cartwheels every single day. :) I can understand Syd's enthusiasm for it though because doing a cartwheel wasn't something she was able to do a few months ago, and it was a major source of frustration for her. That's what she did and sure enough within a few weeks, she was doing cartwheels! :) A homeschooling mom shared this cute heart-shaped Valentine countdown idea with me. I thought I would give it a try and make one too. Each heart has a Bible verse about love on it. Each day, you tear off a heart, read a Bible verse about love to find out what God has to say about it, and then count yourself one day closer to Valentine's Day (and one day closer to understanding the true meaning of "love"). Sydney's memory verses for January were Hebrews 11:23-26. She passed her oral verse quiz with flying colors! This should come as no surprise though because young children do possess the ability to memorize Scripture, songs and poems with ease. Fill up those minds with the Word of God while they are young, and able to do it so easily. :) It gets harder as you get older. This was a neat watercolor art project that Syd worked on this week. She crushed salt crystals and sprinkled them onto the wet paint to make it look like snow falling from the sky. Then she glued some cotton onto the log and fox to add a soft blanket of snow. Syd has been a busy girl. Her poem for February is Our Flag and she has been practicing reciting it everyday. She will have it committed to memory in no time. Just a little sample of our stuff of life this week. :)
