Wow, holy cow, it's that time again, back to school!
School supplies and books have been purchased and prepped, back to school photos have been photographed, meals are planned...prayers have gone up. We are as ready for this as we are ever going to be...bring it!

Aaron's first day back is Monday, August 11th. Sydney's first day back is Tuesday, August 12th.

I am doing Abeka Academy with my children this year 2015-2016. Mrs. Rochelle Achuff is their teacher for 3rd grade. Was she previously a 4th grade teacher?

Hi Danielle,

Thank you for the inquiry. Mrs. Rochelle Achuff is the third grade teacher. I am sorry for the confusion. Let me see if I can clear this up. My daughter was a third grader in our homeschool when we first started looking into the A Beka Academy. Prior to that time I was just using a hodge podge of curriculum that I thought was suitable for my third grader. When we first enrolled in the Academy I realized that in order for my daughter to be successful that first year, she was going to have to work through the second grade material first because she was weak in some areas. The third grade level would have been too advanced for her. However, I kept her listed with the state that our homeschool was located in, as a third grader, because I had hoped to maybe catch her up the following year. When the next year came around and I took a look at the fourth grade material, again, I realized that it was too advanced for her. I did the same thing. I listed her with the state as a fourth grader, however she definitely needed to work her way through the third grade material first. This year I realized that I needed to let go of the mentally that she needed to “catch up”. She has been doing so great in each level, thriving and yet challenged enough. This year I listed her in our state as a fourth grader, which is her current level in the A Beka Academy.

I hope this answers your question.

I hope you and your children have a fantastic year of learning with Mrs. Achuff. My daughter absolutely loves her. She is an outstanding teacher, but then I haven’t yet found one that isn’t outstanding in this program. I wish you all the best.
