A Little Summer Gardening Project: Getting Our Hands Dirty

• MARIGOLDS

• ZINNIAS

• PUMPKINS

Living down here in the south means there's a longer growing season. There won't be any danger of frost until late October, early November. So even though I didn't start planting seeds until June, there is still time to reap a harvest. Next year I would like to start planting in the early spring.

Aaron and Sydney planted the peppers. I see Aaron is not planning on getting his hands dirty. 

I guess gardening brings out a British-style accent in Sydney! ; )

I may need to invest in some gardening tools next year. We planted the whole garden using a SCREWDRIVER of all things. 

I suppose plants aren't the only thing I'm growing this gardening season. I'm growing a tiny bit of gardening wisdom along the way too. 

After all of this hard work in planting a garden, our appetites are growing! It's time to pause for a pizza break! I guess this could be considered a blog commercial break! :D

My first harvest!

Yikes! The sunflowers are growing mighty fast!

Each member of the family planted our very own pumpkin seed, a little friendly competition to see who will grow the largest pumpkin. We even named our plants.
Introducing our pumpkin family: Artie (Clint), Pete (me), Ed (Aaron), and Clark (Syd).

So far Artie is growing like a wild, crazy pumpkin plant. He's the biggest plant so far.

Pete, not so much!

Ed is going to give Artie a run for his money.

And I would not count Clark out of the race yet!

Here's to growing an appetite for gardening, a little bit of wisdom to grow on, and a whole lot of pumpkin family!
